From Kathie Brown and Jim Bjostad:
It's been our privilege to serve the Grand Chapter. We had fun, we laughed, we cried. We were a Family, a Grand Family. We cannot express our gratitude enough to our officers, escorts, and all those who agreed to serve in some capacity for this year.
What were the biggest accomplishments in my mind (some of these started while I was in the Grand Line but before I was installed WGM, and others were involved, as well)?
- The Grand Chapter website-This was a real concern when I started in the Grand Line. We spent the money to redo the website and Kurt Johnson has worked tirelessly leading this effort. I trust this will help in our marketing efforts and the Member Hub has lots of good resources. I regularly sent updates or info for the website.
- The launch of a Grand Chapter Facebook page (I do not take any credit for this, however.)
- A less rigorous test for District Instructors.
- The Tri State Exchange hosted by Minnesota with about 90 people in attendance. I had been looking forward to this for a long time.
- The Quad Exchange in South Dakota-There had not been a Quad Exchange since I have been in the Grand Line and I am very happy that South Dakota agreed to host. I hope this gets back to being an annual event. Manitoba will host in this coming year. These exchanges are open to all members, not just the Grand Family.
What were the disappointments (these were due to COVID-19)?
- The cancellation of the GGC Triennial Assembly in Salt Lake City
- That most jurisdictions did not allow visitors at their sessions in 2021-I would have attended sessions in our surrounding states along with some of our appointed officers. I will attend many of those sessions in 2022.
New things for the Session
-
- Breakout Sessions (In the past, we have done a membership session or something else on Thursday morning, but I don’t think we have had multiple options.)
- A tour-primarily intended for out of state visitors (Charles Lindbergh House & Museum in Little Falls)-no one ended up going but I think it is worth trying again and maybe do it earlier in the session
- A different type of entertainment on Friday evening - square dancing (Those that did it had a great time!)
- An honoring for our honored station - Chaplain
