We are dedicated to helping our communities and State in a number of ways. Each Chapter decides what they can do within their community. Some choose to donate to their local food shelf; donate school supplies to financially disadvantaged schools; give hats and mittens to local counties to ensure that children of low income families have the proper clothing during the winter; or donate time, money or materials to a women’s shelter. Last year Eastern Star members volunteered 133,000+ hours at hospitals, elderly care homes, Meals on Wheels, mentoring students, and much more! We love what we do!
The Minnesota Grand Chapter has dedicated much of their charitable contributions to fund cancer research and the Masonic Cancer Center at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. We recently finished a fund raising campaign called “Partners for Life” where the entire Masonic families in Minnesota raised $10 million to build a new Masonic Oncology Pavilion at the University of Minnesota. We also support our two Masonic Homes in Bloomington and New Hope where we have built a chapel, an Alzheimer’s Wing, and provided the patients and residents with many hours of entertainment, comfort and lots of Star hugs!
