WGP Roger Taylor – February, 2018

Sisters and Brothers,

We have heard of the many wonderful community projects that our chapters are working on throughout the year. The Order of the Eastern Star is making a difference on our communities. Remember to complete your Community Projects Report for your good works from May 2017 to April 2018 and send it to Marge Nelson, at mjbwnelson@gmail.com, by April 15th.

Over the next couple of months, the chapters will be wrapping up this year’s work, and turning it over to a new corps of officers. However, there is still so much work to do. Remember that the Grand Chapter projects continue on through Grand Chapter.

Thank you to the many chapters who have helped out at the Masonic Home, for being pen pals, making tray favors, hosting birthday parties and helping with special events. A special thank you to those individuals who have put in many volunteer hours! All of these efforts brighten the residents’ lives throughout the year, especially the Pen Pal program as many residents receive little mail. If you want to get involved and lend a hand, contact Bonnie Benson, Chair.

The Give Them A Lift Project will receive a portion from each polo shirt and fleece jacket that has been sold this year. Chapters should have received information about ordering polos in the five Star Point colors and the navy blue fleece, for individuals or for your entire chapter. Nancy Fischer is accepting orders through March 15th, with items to be delivered at Grand Chapter. If you need a form, send her an email at FischerN55@gmail.com and she will send it off to you.

Grand Chapter is coming soon, and the legislation that we will be acting on will be sent to all chapters. Please take the time to review it. And remember that all members have voting rights, so come to Grand Chapter and be prepared to cast your vote.

We hope you all have stayed warm and healthy, and looking forward to Spring as much as we are!

In Star love,

Roger Taylor, WGP

P.S.  A little Flag etiquette: For all of you who have served in the military, and fulfilled those obligations, you have been given the right to salute the flag when it is being presented, during the reciting of Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of the National Anthem. I encourage you to exercise that right!
