With November here, my thoughts lead to Thanksgiving. This is a month where we give thanks to the many blessings that have touched our lives. I am thankful each and every day for my family, my faith, and the many people that have touched my heart. I am thankful for good health and the freedoms that allow us to experience many opportunities. I feel truly blessed.
I am also thankful for my Star sisters and brothers. We traveled our great state in October and shared many good times with our marvelous Masonic Family. October began with Jerry and I attending the DeMolay Legion of Honor ceremony where it was heartwarming to see Brother Adam Pierce invested with the DeMolay Legion of Honor, in recognition of his service and loyalty to the principles of DeMolay. Our Grand Family then traveled to Granite Chapter in St. Cloud, to honor your Grand Ruth, Tanya Hosfield. The next evening, I was honored to present Worthy Matron Kathy Trout of Queen Esther Chapter in St. Paul Park with her 50-year certificate and pin. It just so happened that she was initiated 50 years ago to the date. We also had the privilege to honor your Grand Chaplain, Jim Bjostad, that same night.
So much love was shared at Martha Chapter in Anoka, where we honored your Grand Adah, Sharon Barlow. Martha Chapter also honored me that same night. A person could not have asked for a more perfect evening! The sidelines and part of the balcony were filled with so many wonderful sisters and brothers. Sister Janet Gilbertson’s presentation of Martha from the 1869 Covenant of Adoption brought tears to my eyes as it was the first station that I held after being initiated into Martha Chapter. After the meeting Brothers Dave Emery and Roger Putnam did a fabulous job of auctioning off the many interesting bottles. It was great way to end a fantastic evening.
Several members of the Grand Family then traveled southeast to Pickwick Chapter. It was so heartwarming to see the chapter filled to capacity. Again, we had the opportunity to share lots of fun at their annual auction. Several of us left with many wonderful baked goods and other items. Following a wonderful gathering for Anulus Aureus, I was off to the 4th Annual Rite Care Gala where money was raised for scholarships to benefit families who need assistance for Speech and Language services. Before leaving to attend South Dakota’s Grand Chapter, we shared a great evening at Unity Chapter where we honored your Grand Conductress, Kathy Foster. We then headed off to Iowa’s Grand Chapter. It is always so wonderful to share time with our neighboring sisters and brothers. We closed off the month with a fun evening with our sisters and brothers of Robbinsdale Chapter where we honored your Grand Esther, Jan MacPherson.
Last, but not least, was the fun and fellowship at Kedron Chapter’s annual Chinese Auction. Lots of laughter was shared as the generosity of sisters and brothers was evidenced. Don’t forget the Annual Cancer Benefit on November 4th to support the research of Dr. Lilli Turcotte of the U of M Cancer Masonic Center. We hope to see many of you there!
Please take time this month to count your blessings and enjoy the season of Thanksgiving. From Oprah Winfrey, please remember to “Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.”
