The heat, humidity, and storms have let us know that summer has arrived. I must admit that I did get a little confused when I saw pictures on Facebook of city plows out clearing the streets following our first major storm of the season in the metro area. We hope all is well with our sisters and brothers along with your families.
I was afforded the privilege of attending the Minnesota Masonic Charities Scholarship Reception in June. The future of our country will be in good hands with the quality of recipients that were awarded scholarships to further their education. As members of the Masonic Family, we must always remember to inform our communities of the scholarships that are available from our subordinate chapters, the Grand Chapter, our local lodges, and Minnesota Masonic Charities.
The elected members of your Grand Chapter are continuing the tradition of meeting with the presiding officers of many of the appendant bodies started by PGM Georgianne and PGP Dale along with Past Most Worshipful Grand Master Bob Darling. The information shared allows us to continue working together and therefore become stronger together.
Our first Area Conference in Moorhead was well attended with members renewing and making new friendships as well as learning or reinforcing information. The Grand Family had the privilege of initiating four new members from four chapters in the northwest area of Minnesota. A heartfelt welcome goes out to our new members. We truly hope you will enjoy being a part of the Order of the Eastern Star.
July and August will afford us the opportunity to travel around the state enjoying the cheerful companionships and social enjoyments that we receive at Official Visits and Area Conferences. It is always great to spend time with our sisters and brothers. I look forward to sharing our travels with you in the September issue.
As we prepare to celebrate Independence Day, may you always keep the freedoms we enjoy close to your heart. Khalil Gibran shared this quote which is appropriate: “…God has given you a spirit with wings on which to soar into the spacious firmament of Love and Freedom.” May we keep our spirit alive so we can soar with love. Always remember to start each day with a grateful heart.
Have a wonderful summer—I look forward to seeing you on the Star Trail.
Peg Oliver, Worthy Grand Matron
